PROJECT INCUBATOR

  • We viewed Jodie's trailer for her documentary project, and provided some feedback.
  • Don and Stacie are currently scheduling, budgeting, and doing preliminary casting for Twenty-Anything. Target trailer shoot date: April 10-11.

00:12:24:10 MONTHLY FILMS

  • Script idea from Jim Huffman - a central event that goes all over town - with LOTS of actors. What if Pulp Fiction was a short?
  • We shot the film The Phonefall on 3/26/05. Daryl is currently editing the footage.
  • Next film will be The Remodel, by Jason Nunes, which we read at the meeting.
  • Next shoot date: Sunday, 12/24/05.
  • We found out we did not recieve the MNN Media Toolkit Grant. We expect to see panel feedback in the next week.

ACTOR SEEKING:

  • Kristina Erickson is seeking advice about Atlantic Theatre Company classes. Please share your experiences: Krstna04@aol.com.
  • Kittson met a filmmaker from Bosnia who did a great documentary about going back to Bosnia - looking for good editor. Email suggestions to: kittsono@hotmail.com.
  • Michael Weingartner is looking for a 100-seat theater space to shoot a stand-up pilot on camera. Members on Wednesday recommended Chashama, Manhattan Theater Source, and Sande Shurin Studio Theater. Email your suggestions to: vangart@yahoo.com.

  • Shooting a workshop of Adam Multer's feature script, Mexican Donkey Ride, this Saturday.

Meghan Scibona

  • Judged a soap acting competition for a modeling group - a highly educational experience.
  • Has an interview for new part-time survival job this week.
  • Sending headshots, reconnecting with a film director.
  • Lesson of the week: if you tell people you are something, they believe that. A woman who Meg was introduced to as a director, thinks of her as director. Meg wants to be seen as an actor.

Jason Nunes

  • Had 3 auditions for student films.
  • Has a reshoot coming up for the NYU film he shot.
  • His feature screenplay Businessmen is in to 5 competitions.
  • Wrote The Remodel, a short film that we will read at the meeting.
  • Writing a screenplay for a producer friend, set in Atlanta. Has a title and an idea to start with.

Micheal Shimkin

  • Met Camille Hickman from Criminal Intent at a seminar.
  • Shot a lead role in Phonefall last Saturday, had a good experience.
  • He occasionally reads for Pulse Ensemble Theatre developmental readings, did one Monday night - a cold read.
  • On advisory board of Streetlight Productions Theater Co. Discussing plans for next year with Artistic Director this week. He will keep PROACTIVE apprised of possible casting opportunities coming up.

James Huffman

  • In the middle of a 3-day U/5 stint on As The World Turns.
  • Did a music video Saturday morning with someone he worked with on his recent Coca Cola project.
  • Just finished reading book The Alchemist - he highly recommends it as a spiritual uplift for actors.

Candice Holdorf

  • Cast as Margot in Cortland Repertory's Dial M for Murder - a paid gig.
  • Next week working on The False Servant at Columbia.
  • Going to open call in NJ for 12 Miles West Theatre Co.
  • Her friend's benefit for Riding The Bull on Tuesday, 4/12, at Theatre for the New City. The director is forming a company out of the show.

Kittson O'Neill

  • Did an NYU grad film last year - it won a Best Ensemble award, and she got special mention.
  • Found a review of a play she did last year in a Shakespeare Quarterly in which she was mentioned.
  • On hold for an E-Diet commercial this Friday.
  • Did two open calls yesterday. Had a very positive experience.
  • A friend is working on a short film - a man's movie with guns - and asked her to do it.
  • Doing a reading in late April.

Andrew Walker

  • A new addition to PROACTIVE, Andrew was a creative director for a company, then became a photographer for financial reasons. He has decided to get back into acting again.
  • Andrew served as lighting designer for last week's short film shoot, Phonefall.
  • Willing to do a day of headshot shooting with the group.

Michael Weingartner

  • Another first-time PROACTIVE-ist, Michael did a horror film with James last summer, called Dead Serious. Doing some ADR for it now.
  • He's an actor and stand-up comic.
  • A pilot he did in November is currently being shopped around.
  • He is mid-way through writing a one-man show with many characters.

Jodie A. Taylor

  • Currently spending a lot of time working on contracts.
  • Showed us the trailer for her documentary.

Sarah Stephens

  • Looking for new money gig to stabilize her income.
  • Just finished performing in a live radio detective story called Hard Boiled.
  • Has enjoyed all the radio plays as a voiceover artist, and is now looking for more complete acting experiences.

Christa Savery

  • Played a lead in Phonefall last Saturday
  • Had audition Monday with Milk Can - it went really well, but didn't get it.
  • Got a call from Stephanie Clapper, scheduled an audition next week for NY Classical Theatre.

Amy Golden

  • Acted in the same music video as James.
  • Her theatre company, Management Company, had a reading of the play it is doing in July - has some good roles for boys.
  • She is taking class with Karen Kohlhaas and Charles Tuthill - loves it. More info at: http://www.monologueaudition.com.
  • She recommends David Friedel (spelling?) as a possible guest acting coach for PROACTIVE.

Don Downie

  • Nailed down a March shoot date for filming the last scene of The Judas Kiss, in which he plays a lead.
  • Shabbir Emon Hassan's film Pretty, in which Don played a lead, was just accepted into the Asian-American International Film Festival screening in NYC at the Asia Society in July.
  • Pretty is also screening at the Stony Brook Digital Video Festival in Long Island on April 10.
  • Sent out a fresh round of postcards to industry contacts.
  • Chose and formatted a new color headshot.
  • Starting an effort to reconnect with a manager he previously worked with commercially.

Stacie Leigh Scaduto

  • Had to drop out of a show this week due to schedling conflicts with Twenty-Anything.
  • Contacted Roger Del Pozo to direct her and Don in monthly film Left Hook in May. He has agreed to do the project.

Rob Faren

  • The film he acted in is screening on Sat. 4/23 at Arlene's Grocery.
  • He is currently tweaking several script ideas for the monthly film parameters.

Blanca Vasquez

  • Worked as a wrangler chaperoning a little girl in Hairspray on Broadway.
  • Monday, did a reading at the Actors Studio - a playwrights and directors studio series.
  • Ordered new headshot reproductions today.
  • Rehearsing for the children's theatre Goldilocks.

Joyce Isaza

  • Produced the monthly film this month.
  • Got two calls for student films - taking a pass on one, because the script is poor. The second is dependent on reimbursement for travel.
